New
Year's Eve:
Semi-Formal Dance
New
Year's Eve: Come and dance your heart out on New Year's. Two-step or jive, or
move any way you like - at the best dancing facility anywhere around. You can't
beat the price. Good music and a spacious dance floor are guaranteed, and you'll
be so close to home at the end of a fun filled night! We're
excited about reviving our social dances here in Kenaston, so don't let the word
"semi-formal" scare you, just put on your New Year's best and join us.
We must have a secure ticket sale margin confirmed by Autumn Action Day to guarantee
the event, so sign up at the Credit Union a.s.a.p. to reserves your tickets or
purchase from a committee or chamber member, from Heather's Korner, or see us
at Autumn Action Day. Help
support this event by spreading the word and inviting friends and family who live
outside the community. You can email our on-line link: www.kenaston.ca
where the announcement is posted. If you have questions let us know: Joanne, Toni,
Glen, Elaine, Marg.
Tourism
Campaign 2005:
WaterTower:Our
goal of 2005 was overly optimistic. However, the tourism committee plans to begin
the water tower restoration in early 2006. We will be confirming all of our project
estimates over the next few months but estimate that approximately $2,500 will
be needed for completion. Gifts for the water tower, antique machinery pavilion
or community symbol may be made to the Village of Kenaston as a charitable donation.
There
are many ways to assist in Chamber projects; instead of donating cash you can
volunteer to help us clean out the water tower, or support Chamber events such
as Autumn Action Day or the New Years Dance.

Kenaston
& Area Community Christmas Party: Everyone is welcome and encouraged
to come. Plan ahead and book tickets for your staff, organization, team, or as
individuals. Mike Couros will be our MC, and the event will be the official launch
for the "Kith & Kin 2005" history book. Entertainment by magician/comedian
"The Magic Man" Clinton James. Tickets $30.00 per person. Saturday December
3rd, Kenaston Place. Call Susan Anholt for tickets: 252-2001, or 252-2769. Event
sponsored by the Kenaston Blizzard Hockey.

and Coming Events Community
Spirit: We had a wonderful Centennial Celebration BBQ on September
1st at Veteran's Park. The event was very well attended and we enjoyed a perfect
fall day for the event. Thanks to those who came out to show your community spirit.
Our
Snowman's Hand: The Chamber
will soon be restoring the snowman area to its former glory. A new hand will be
fabricated along with a hockey stick. A plan for fencing has been approved; watch
for progress! Donations will be gratefully accepted.
Our
Wellness Center needs support.
The Kenaston Wellness Clinic has operated since 1992, and has been managed by
registered nurse Darla Collins for the last 5 years. Darla provides a long list
of health services to all ages from infant to senior care, and she is happy to
answer your questions or direct you as needed. All patient records are strictly
confidential.
Kenaston
should be aware that the free services provided by the clinic are not funded
through Saskatchewan Health but rather by community donation. Your support ensures
the survival of this important community service, including the RN fee, and the
stock of important medical supplies. If you haven't used the clinic services yet,
come and see how easy and convenient we are with a quick check-up. See
our Afghan Raffle at Autumn Action Day (donated by Pearl Breadner). Your donations
to the clinic are gratefully accepted. Receipts will be provided for amounts over
$20.00. Cheques should be made out to The Village of Kenaston Wellness Clinic.
Upcoming
clinic hours: Oct. 18, 31; Nov. 15, 29; Dec. 13, from 9:00 am to 10:45 am.
For more information on services provided call Darla at 252-2008 or see the webpage
under services on www.kenaston.ca.

last Crossroads. Place your property free of charge on our website
at www.kenaston.ca (house, land, acreage, farm, building or lot, whether in town
or in the surrounding area).
Land

the council and chamber. Both organizations are willing to help you promote your
lot as a potential housing or business site. Contact: Susan Anholt 252-2769.
Community
Profile on our Website:
Our Website is designed to promote our
community. If you know of, or can find, a business looking for a new home please
direct them to the community profile at www.kenaston.ca
, and let the Chamber of Commerce know so we may make contact the business in
person. If
you are interested in starting a business here at home, come to the chamber as
part of your strategy for getting started. The chamber meets to plan for Kenaston's
future and is very willing to support and help promote your business.

Tonne Challenge: "Over 500 million computers and other electronic equipment
will become obsolete over the next 5 years making E-waste the fastest growing
source of waste we have. E-waste does not readily decompose, and therefore poses
a significant environmental pollutant and health risk." Ewaste Canada in
Regina accepts all electronic equipment, working or nonworking, except television,
for environmental-friendly recycling. Someone with a truck, willing to organize
a pick-up and drop off to Regina, may want to let the community know so those
with electronic waste piling up in their garage or basement can take advantage
of this safe disposal service. See http://www.ewastecanada.ca/
 EMO:
Be Prepared. In light of recent global events, and winter weather approaching
we need to be prepared. Plan and prepare to be as self-sufficient in your own
home as possible. Join with neighbors and friends and organize for emergencies
such as severe weather or power outage. The more we are prepared the more secure
our entire community will be in a crisis.
Block
Leaders: Our phone fan-out and evacuation plan still needs completion. If
your block is not organized
please call Colleen Sekulich 252-2230 for information.
Be Prepared: Not Scared is the motto for the Canadian EMO emergency planning team.
EMO Tips are available in your Kenaston EMO manual available on the Kenaston website.
You can also pick up your copy from Town Office, or from your block leader.
